The thing is there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to the best way to lose weight; it depends on the person losing weight and their needs, demands and health situation.

Some people can follow a regular eating regime, others need to lose weight quickly with fad diets, and some may have to go on a very strict diet in order to achieve their optimum weight loss goals. People lose weight for a variety of reasons, from health to cosmetics and the ways to lose weight are nearly as variable as the people themselves. The following paragraphs will give you general information about weight loss, weight loss tips, and the dangers of losing weight too quickly or in large amounts.

The Basics of Weight Loss

Despite the many trends of weight loss and information that is given to people, the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to follow a well balanced eating regime and exercise on a regular basis. Most people who follow this regime on a daily basis will lose weight slowly, but they are more likely than fad dieters to keep the weight off.

Some of the fad diets include the Aitkin’s diet, South Beach diet, Fit for Life diet and Weight Watchers, and they work great for short term rapid weight loss, but scientific research and weight loss information tell us that following a healthy, well balanced meal and exercising regularly is the optimal way to lose weight.

The Dangers of Losing Too Much Weight Too Quickly

Weight loss is often thought of as a good thing, and too little attention is paid to the dangers and consequences of losing too much weight. The amount of weight loss is not always the danger; sometimes it’s the speed at which someone loses it. There are two main diseases that come from the obsession of losing weight; anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Many people have the notion that they are deep set problems that started from childhood, but such is not the case in many circumstances. Often times a person will lose a bit of weight, and develop anorexia over time as weight loss becomes a game, and they want to see how much weight they can lose by starving themselves.

On the flip side, those that do not have the control over their intake will create the same effect by purging themselves after eating. This sometimes coincides with binging, but not always. Other problems with rapid weight loss aside from anorexia and bulimia are those such as hair loss, stomach ulcers and other problems with the stomach lining, heart problems, and trouble with weight troubles in the future. Rapid weight loss can be helpful to take care of obesity-related problems, jumpstart weight loss and before surgery or other medical procedures, but the principles should not be used for long term use.
